A veteran and an Iraqi refugee reflect on 20 years since the start of the Iraq war

It’s been two decades since the U.S. invaded Iraq over alleged weapons of mass destruction. Reset hears how the war affected two Chicagoans.

The war killed 275,000 Iraqi civilians and 4,500 U.S. military personnel and injured tens of thousands of U.S. troops. No “WMD” were found. Today many analysts say the war and 2011 American withdrawal destabilized the country and paved the way for the Islamic State’s rise to power in 2014.
