For migrants arriving in Chicago, finding health care can be a daunting issue. A frequent first stop for many is Cook County Health, a Chicago public health system. However, wait times for appointments at clinics can grow long, and those needing more timely care — including pregnant migrants arriving to the city — are not always aware of other options.

It’s not easy to find a ready list of clinics in Chicago that offer OB-GYN services for low-cost or sliding scale. The list below draws from Chicago’s array of Federally Qualified Health Centers, or FQHCs, that serve people who are uninsured, low income and on Medicaid. While far from comprehensive, it was compiled with assistance from advocates and health experts and provides a starting point for any pregnant person seeking prenatal care in Chicago.

ACCESS Community Health Network

ACCESS is an FQHC that offers a broad range of services, with 30 of its 35 locations providing OB-GYN services. For a full list of locations, click here and select the specialty “Obstetrics and Gynecology.”

Alivio Medical Center

Alivio provides low-cost health care to the uninsured and uninsured. They are a bilingual organization and focus on providing care to the Hispanic community. They have several doctors that provide OB/GYN services. To find a provider, click here and select the specialty “OB/Gynecology.”

Aunt Martha’s Health and Wellness

Aunt Martha’s has numerous locations in and outside of Chicago. In Chicago, it provides women’s health and OB-GYN services at its Humboldt Park and Southeast Side locations, listed below.

The Infant Welfare Society aims to be a “one-stop-shop” for health care for children and their families. They also offer prenatal care and coordinate support groups for women with similar due dates.

Lawndale Christian Health Center

Lawndale serves patients across Chicago’s West Side. Like the Infant Welfare Society, it offers both traditional prenatal care and health visits, and a support group called Center Pregnancy. Prenatal care is offered at three of their locations. Lawndale also provides assistance to pregnant individuals applying for the Moms & Babies program to continue their Medicaid coverage.
