In 2014, the number of deaths in the U.S. from guns began to increase. In 2020, gun deaths surpassed car accidents as the leading killer of children. Black children are six times more likely to be killed by guns than white children, but the rates of gun violence are rising in all groups across the country in urban, suburban and rural areas.
