From Chicago to Toronto: New memoir documents decades of family conflicts, racism, and resilience
In My Fighting Family, author Morgan Campbell explores what it means to be a Black American in Canada and knowing which battles to fight.
What does it mean to be Black in Canada, when you have strong American roots? In his debut memoir, author Morgan Campbell takes an introspective look at his upbringing and the decades-old, cross border family battles he’s witnessed. His father’s and mother’s families were both part of the Great Migration from the U.S. rural south to Chicago, but a history of insults and social class differences solidified a great feud that only intensified over the course of the century.
Reset sits down with Campbell to learn more about the book and how he worked to find clarity in all the conflict.
