Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson introduced his pick to lead the city’s police department Monday.

Larry Snelling is CPD’s counterterrorism chief.

Johnson selected him from three candidates chosen by a new panel called the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability.

The mayor emphasized Snelling’s Chicago roots and policing experience.

The two spoke at a City Hall news conference.
