Communities near Will County’s Braidwood nuclear power station have been reeling from troubling news this year.

The station leaked tritium, a mild radioactive chemical into area groundwater.

Government agencies insist public health was not jeopardized, but the revelations caught the attention of residents in Braidwood, Godley and surrounding areas.

Six months later, the communities are moving on with an uneasy mix of fear, optimism, and resolve.
