Illinois agriculture officials are asking the public for patience in fighting the invasive Emerald Ash Borer.

The state’s poised to issue a quarantine around an Emerald Ash Borer infestation in Kane County.

The state wants surrounding ash trees removed so the beetle have less to eat.

But homeowners might have to foot some of the bill, and they want a price tag.

But the state agriculture department says it’s too soon to calculate those costs.

Biologists don’t know exactly how many trees might need cutting.

It’s also unclear whether the federal government might contribute.

The US Senate is considering that right now.

Officials say there’s no rush to fell any trees, anyway.

Adult Emerald Ash Borers will die off by September.

That makes it unlikely the beetle will spread more this year.
