Tonight a Chicago alderman will share his dream of building a music venue in Douglas Park with West Side community members.
Douglas Park already hosts the weekend-long music festival Riot Fest which kicks off September 16.
But Alderman Michael Scott Jr. said long before Riot Fest came around he wanted to build a permanent music venue in the park. Scott said tonight he will pitch his residents a smaller-scale music venue — one with a concrete pad that could host smaller productions or hold rented stages — for audiences of up to 7,500 people.
