Earlier this month, Worldview embarked on a seven-city road trip; today, we bring you coverage from Detroit. Detroit has become famous for all of its urban gardens and farms. Worldview‘s food, health and culture contributor Monica Eng visited one of the few African-American owned and operated gardens there, called Peace Tree Park. It’s the brainchild of mechanical engineer Eric Andrews, who wanted to give back to his old neighborhood when he returned from college. Since 2015, he has been growing organic produce to give away to the garden’s neighbors in order to make healthy food more affordable in the Corktown area of Detroit.
