Chicago is home to many well known writers — among them is Mexican American writer Sandra Cisneros. She’s perhaps best known for her 1984 breakout coming of age novel “The House on Mango Street,” which takes place in Chicago’s Humboldt Park. Her work — whether it’s poetry, nonfiction or essay — has always drawn from personal experiences, and people she’s observed; whether in Chicago, San Antonio or Hydra, Greece. Her latest book, “A House of My Own,” is an autobiography but the format is atypical. She’s using her past writings to give readers a sense of who she is.
