Voters throughout Illinois are heading to polling places to decide which Republicans and Democrats will advance to the November general election.
One of the most watched races is the GOP primary for governor, which could indicate how far right local Republicans are shifting. Among the frontrunners are state Sen. Darren Bailey, who is endorsed by former President Donald Trump, and Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin, whose campaign has received $50 million from hedge fund billionaire Kenneth Griffin.
Amid worries about low voter turnout, Illinoisans have been lining up at polling places since 6 a.m. and will continue to trickle in until 7 p.m. today. Here are some images of voters from at DuPage County Fairgrounds, Chicago’s Chinatown library branch and Highland Park.
