The Chicago Children’s Museum is eyeing a new home in Grant Park. But a group of local residents says the plan would be great for visitors, but not their kids.

The Children’s Museum on Navy Pier has growing pains. It draws half a million visitors each year. And the staff wants a new, bigger museum in Grant Park. But some downtown residents are balking. Peggy Fiegel lives nearby. “Each part of the city has their own park space. And bringing the museum will overrun that, and it will bring vehicular and pedestrian traffic, which will make everything very dangerous,” she says.

The Museum has offered to study the impact of traffic on the area. They’ve also offered to pay for a new field house for that section of Park.

The Grant Park Advisory Council will hold a meeting on the issue Monday night.
