As of January 1, 2022, all nannies, care workers, and home cleaners who work in Chicago must be provided a written contract — a major win for domestic worker advocates. Advocates say Chicago is the largest city in the U.S. to require domestic worker contracts. Local groups are now trying to get the word out and inform the thousands of domestic workers in the city as well as their employers.
