Mayor Lori Lightfoot on Monday released a racial breakdown of deaths and confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city — and that data confirmed a recent WBEZ analysis on coronavirus-related deaths in Cook County.
Black residents account for more than half of all COVID-19 deaths in the county. In Chicago, 70 percent of COVID-19 deaths are black residents, according WBEZ’s analysis.
