The Midcontinent Independent System Operator approved nearly $10.5 billion in upgrades to the power grid that runs through Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Michigan. These fixes, known as Tranche 1, will improve reliability of service, the grid’s ability to withstand severe weather and lower electric bills for ratepayers in the long run.
