Amin Cyntje

Director, Community Engagement

As Chicago Public Media’s director of community engagement, Amin amplifies WBEZ journalism and storytelling, and builds awareness of Vocalo Radio programming, through public engagement initiatives and compelling live event content. His work helps connect our stations to the public we serve, and Chicagoans to one another.

Over the past decade Amin has developed thought leadership programming exploring current events, public policy and political life as a program director at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics, Partnership for Public Service, and Atlantic Media Company. His accomplishments include development of a nationwide public education campaign celebrating public service, a nationally televised presidential debate in partnership with CBS News, and daily live event programming at Republican and Democratic National Conventions in partnership with ABC News and Univision.

Prior to joining WBEZ Amin served as director of programming at the University of Chicago IOP where he founded their Pritzker Fellows Program and curated their Speaker Series. Outside of work Amin enjoys tennis, biking, live music, cultural events and exploring Chicago. Originally from the U.S. Virgin Islands, Amin has a B.A. from Bethune-Cookman University and an M.A. from George Washington University.
