Program schedule update: WBEZ Chicago adds more news to weekday afternoons

NPR’s Here and Now to air Mondays-Thursdays starting at 1 p.m.; Fresh Air moves out of middays on WBEZ, available weekday evenings and on new WBEZ mobile app.

CHICAGO (Jan. 18, 2022) – Starting Monday, Jan. 24, WBEZ Chicago will deliver another hour of daily news to listeners weekday afternoons by adding an extra hour of NPR’s Here and Now to the station’s program schedule. It will air Mondays through Thursdays, starting at 1 p.m. through 3 p.m.

“Now listeners can stay connected to local and national news on WBEZ all afternoon long and stay connected to the news throughout the day as it develops, starting with our weekday show, Reset with Sasha-Ann Simons at 11 a.m., followed by NPR’s Here and Now now at 1 p.m. and then NPR’s All Things Considered at 3 p.m.,” said Heidi Goldfein, WBEZ’s program director.

With this update to the weekday program schedule, Thursday, Jan. 20 will be the final midday broadcast of Fresh Air with Terry Gross at 1 p.m. However, Fresh Air will continue to air in the evenings Mondays through Thursdays at 8 p.m. and Fresh Air Weekend airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. And, listeners can enjoy Fresh Air anytime on WBEZ’s mobile app.

Goldfein noted Fresh Air is a perfect fit for evenings when listeners are ready to wind down the day with a fascinating conversation with Terry Gross. Or, listeners can discover and listen back to Fresh Air interviews on the WBEZ app at a time that’s convenient for them.

WBEZ’s Friday schedule remains the same, with Science Friday at 1 p.m. every Friday followed by NPR’s Here and Now at 2 p.m. WBEZ’s updated radio schedule, effective Jan. 24, 2022, is available at wbez.org/schedule.
