Lucy Kim named Chief Advancement Officer at Chicago Public Media

Experienced fundraiser joins Chicago Public Media to lead station’s philanthropic and member/donor engagement efforts.

CHICAGO (August 12, 2021) — Lucy Kim has been named as the Chief Advancement Officer for Chicago Public Media, home of Chicago’s NPR news station WBEZ Chicago. She will start in September to lead the station’s fundraising and member/donor engagement efforts for the organization. Kim joins WBEZ from the Brookings Institution, where she is currently the Vice President of Development leading the organization’s fundraising and development strategy.

While at Brookings, Kim partnered with their president to provide philanthropic strategy, vision, and counsel to advance the institution’s research and programmatic priorities. She also spent 15 years at Harvard University in several executive positions, including as Deputy Vice Dean of Development at the T.H. Chan School for Public Health. Kim oversaw all levels of fundraising and development strategy and managed Board and volunteer leadership activities during the final two years of the record-breaking Harvard Campaign. Kim has also held fundraising and management responsibilities at Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. 

Kim earned a Master of Education in Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She also holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in voice performance from Boston University and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, respectively.
